Feb. 23-27

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Your child was given a small slip of paper Monday, Feb. 23, to tape into that day’s agenda that has grades for language and reading and missing assignments.  If the paper was blank, nothing is owed.  If an assignment is on the paper, then that assignment hasn’t been handed in.  I okayed anything that was handed in on Monday.

Monday:  Language- Drop in the Bucket #11 and #12, and find appositives in the science books

Tuesday:  I will be out of the classroom to go to a PLC Leadership meeting.

Language- Punctuation pg 7 in Storyworks magazine, appositive worksheet, and English Writing Prompt

Reading- This week we’ll continue working on comprehension using a newspaper article.  Then do some MAP-like stories to prepare for the MAP test.

Wednesday: Finish going over “The Day the Worms Moved In”

Newspaper article ”Wash up, folks” –the worksheet is due that day

 begin “Lessons from Ghosts”

Thursday:  Go over “Wash up, folks” and finish “Lessons from Ghosts”– probably due by the end of class

Friday:  Go over “Lessons From Ghosts” and begin “The Prize”

Book Talks will start March 3rd.  If you would like to come to watch your child deliver his or her book talk, just let me know and I’ll make sure you know when your child’s due date is.

Feb. 9 update

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Oops.  I forgot about the poems that we started last week.  Monday we had about 30 minutes to put them into final copy form.  The poems will be read in class Tuesday.  Students may glue the poems down on Tuesday, but all other work must be completed on them.

Also I have a hand full of students who haven’t returned the progress reports that were sent out last Monday.

February 9-13

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Your child was given a small slip of paper Monday, Feb. 9, to tape into that day’s agenda.  If the paper was blank, nothing is owed.  If an assignment is on the paper, then that assignment hasn’t been handed in.  I okayed anything that was handed in on Monday.

I’m so sorry about not getting my blog updated last week.  After 3 days of snow days and then 3 days of being out of the classroom due to meetings last week was a blur!  So let’s move on to this week!

A book needs to be chosen for the 3rd Quarter Book Talk by this Friday.  Please look for further information under the Book Talk page.

Monday:  Drop #9 & 10, review proper adjectives, worksheet to be completed in class, and finding proper adjectives in a newspaper.

Tuesday: Review appositives, worksheet to be completed in class and finding appositives in a Storyworks magazine.

Wednesday:  Go over work from last week- “Three Skies” and “Lost in a Blizzard”

Thursday & Friday:  Review author’s purpose by using articles in a Storyworks magazine and do a MAP preparation story with questions-  “Lessons from Ghosts”
